SUMMARY:

This directory contains a selection of data from a databse of dynamically downscaled climate
projections and reanalysis for the Pacific Northwest produced using the Weather Research
and Forecasting (WRF) regional climate model, and implemented at a temporal resolution of
6 hours and a spatial resolution of 12 km.

This directory also contains hydrologic simulations based on the dynamically downscaled NCEP-
NCAR Reanalysis (NNRP) data for the period 1970 to 1999 and the output from the ECHAM5
global model. The hydrologic simulations were generated using the Variable Infiltration
Capacity (VIC) macroscale hydrologic model and data are available at a 1/16 degree spatial
    resolution over the domain.

DIRECTORY STRUCTURE:

There are 3 subdirectories:

1) wrf_nnrp:
These data are based on the NCEP-NCAR Reanalyis project and span the years 1950-2010.
The VIC output data and scenarios are described in their own README file.

2) wrf_echam5:
These data are based on the ECHAM5 global model, A1B greenhouse gas scenario, and span
the years 1970-2070. The VIC output include a historical scenario (the 1980s), and two
future scenario time periods (the 2020s and the 2050s).

3) wrf_ccsm3:
These data are based on the CCSM3 global model, A1B greenhouse gas scenario, and span
the years 1970-2070. These data do not yet include a VIC run.

SUBDIRECTORIES for WRF data

Within each WRF directory, the following subdirectories may exist:

    1) met_12km
Contains selected meteorologic output from the 12km-WRF realization based on the data or
global climate model run in the following directories.

            a) monthly
Contains netcdf files of the naming structure:
                    modelname.d02.yyyy-yyyy.nc
                    (ex: nnrp.d02.1970-1979.nc)
Monthly data are for the following variables:
TTLPREC: Montly total precipitation in mm
AVGMAXT2: Monthly average of daily maximum temperature at 2m
AVGMINT2: Monthly average of daily minimum temperature at 2m
            b) daily
Contains netcdf files of the naming structure:
                    modelname.d02.yyyy.nc
Daily data are the for the following variables:
PREC: Daily accumulated precipitation in mm
                    MAXT2: Maximum temperature at 2m
                    MINT2: Minimum temperature at 2m

    2) vic_16d
Contains VIC model output and summary products based on the WRF data.
